Overview

Similar to our Autumn Immersion program, Chinese students ages 9 to 12 years old come to the US to immerse in a local school for 10 days. At school, students are split and placed in grades 3-6, and they will also visit key tourist locations in host and neighboring cities. Students are single or double placed with volunteer host families who have children. At the end of the program, students are awarded with a certificate of program completion at the farewell party. Prior to hosting, all volunteer families are required to complete the Host Family Application process, which includes being screened and vetted by one of our Host Family Recruiters. Host Families are responsible for providing three meals per day, the student’s own bed, transportation to and from the school (if needed, carpool can be arranged), and love and guidance. Similar to most of our summer programs, single and double placements are allowed. In case of any emergencies, NISE staff as well as foreign chaperones are readily available to support the program 24/7.

“Lemon [student] was a lot of fun. He fit into our family easily and immediately began working on his English. …I hope his family notices big improvements to his English due to this visit.”
